There's a race series for these here (Northern Ireland Sevens - ) they're currently lapping Kirkistown close to 85mph. I'd highly recommend a bike engined version - I have a Fireblade engined road legal verison myself. I wouldn't necessarily go for a Caterham - there are plenty of very good alternative manufacturers (Westfield, MK, MNR) that are much more affordable - including building it yourself (Locosts). I should probably note that my candidates for my car are S30 240Z or E30 325i and for my bike are Triumph Daytona Speed Triple or CBR 600RR.Ī Lotus Seven replica is a very good idea. Cons: 1) Like I mentioned before, I could easily get myself injured, especially with the drivers around here (Utah: the worst). 2) Summers would be that much more enjoyable. Now for the bike: Pros: 1) It's a bike, it'd be fun as hell. 2) Let's face it, track cars are a money pit, Finally 3) realistically, what college kid has two toy cars to play with (my DD is a street modified auto-x warrior). Cons of a track car are: 1) I'm pretty transient, a few years from now, I'll probably be moving across the country. The way I see it, pro's of having a track car are: 1) less chance of killing myself, 2) it's something cool I could put on my resume (I'm currently going to to school for mechanical engineering with intent to pursue a career in motorsports), and 3): it would probably see more track usage than a bike ever will. It's just a matter of deciding which now. I've got a good sized chunk of change saved up for either one. I've been flip-flopping on this topic for about two years now.
